Q & A: Frequently Asked Questions for Heylaw Journal Authors
For authors who are not yet familiar with the journal management process, we often receive questions regarding the submission and publication workflow at Heylaw Journal of Law, Economic and Technology. Basic information is already available on the official journal pages. However, to facilitate understanding and provide informative guidance, we present it here in a clear Question & Answer (Q&A) format.
What You Need to Know: Preparing Your Manuscript for Submission
The key to passing the internal evaluation by the Heylaw editorial team and progressing to external peer review includes:
-
Ensure your manuscript includes at least 30 references (or as per Heylaw guidelines).
-
References should primarily consist of academic journals (especially law, technology, and economics journals), books, and regulations/statutes relevant to the journal’s focus.
-
At least 50% of references should be recent (published within the last 5 years) to demonstrate relevance to the fast-evolving fields of Law, Economics, and Technology.
-
Ensure your manuscript provides novel perspectives, new empirical findings, or a clear theoretical contribution to issues in Law, Economics, and Technology.
-
Explain why your research is important and distinct from previous studies, particularly in addressing current issues in Cyber Law, Fintech, or LegalTech.
-
Clearly describe your research methodology (e.g., Normative, Empirical, or mixed) and ensure it aligns with the type of data used (primary legal materials, secondary sources, or field data).
Tip for Authors: A well-prepared manuscript that meets these criteria increases the likelihood of a smooth internal review and successful progression to peer review.
